Stop-Loss

With the war in Iraq getting such massive press coverage throughout the past seven years, it’s only natural that Hollywood has fallen into its natural role of art imitating life. And with Stop-Loss, Paramount Pictures has created an opus worthy of audiences’ attention.
In the ‘eye candy for the ladies’ category, Stop-Loss scores big, employing the hunkiness of Ryan Phillippe (as Brandon King), Channing Tatum (as Steve Shriver), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as Tommy Burgess), and Rob Brown (as Isaac “Eyeball” Butler). And, surprise! They can do more than just look good… they can act, too!
A press release for the film describes the plot as such- “Decorated Iraq war hero Sgt. Brandon King makes a celebrated return to his small Texas hometown following his tour of duty. He tries to resume the life he left behind. Then, against Brandon’s will, the Army orders him back to duty in Iraq, which upends his world. The conflict tests everything he believes in: the bond of family, the loyalty of friendship, the limits of love and the value of honor.”
Stop-Loss released on March 28th in theaters nationwide. And while it probably won’t turn in record-setting box office sales, it’ll definitely get you thinking.
